Madame C.J Walker

At Ciresi & Morek, we recognize that manufacturing is our business, and we would like to honor its history and the women who have and had a great influence.

In March 2022, our mission is to highlight the many women who have come before us and who stand today that put their mark on manufacturing.

Today, we recognize The Madame CJ Walker Manufacturing Company, opened in 1908 in Pittsburgh and moved to Indianapolis in 1910.  Her pioneering African American hair products line was not only manufactured, but Madame C.J Walker trained her sales beauticians all across the states in order to sell her revolutionizing products.

Madame C.J Walker was an inventor and entrepreneur and she one of the first women in America to open a factory and become a self-made millionaire.
